My name is Diana Yen.

I'm the owner of Jewels of New York.
00:05
I'm here today with Cleo the bunny.
00:08
We're gonna show you how to decorate Easter eggs
00:11
inspired by adult coloring books.
00:16
(laughing)
00:17
We thought it'd be really fun to come up
00:18
with an idea of decorating Easter eggs
00:20
without using normal dye.
00:22
The inspiration for these eggs
00:24
come from adult coloring books.
00:26
One of them is Secret Garden
00:28
but you can feel free to use any coloring book
00:30
that has the intricate floral motifs.
00:33
We're gonna show you how to do it today
00:34
in a simple way that is easy to approach at home.
00:37
You're gonna start with a hard-boiled egg.
00:40
I recommend jumbo-sized eggs so that you have
00:44
more surface area to draw on.
00:46
You're gonna start sketching flowers over it.
00:50
After I've laid down a couple of the main flowers motifs,
00:54
you're still gonna get some white space in the back.
00:57
That's where you're gonna come in
01:00
and fill it in with leaves.
01:03
There's no need to be perfect.
01:05
You just want to fill up the egg with all your sketches.
01:10
The next thing you're going to do
01:11
is grab a permanent marker.
01:15
You're gonna trace your pencil lines
01:17
with the permanent marker.
01:22
You're gonna still see pencil marks
01:23
so give your egg a couple seconds to dry
01:28
and then you're gonna go in with this eraser
01:31
and erase all those pencil marks.
01:34
Now you have a really clean egg to start with.
01:36
You're gonna stack a bunch of these eggs in a bowl
01:39
and you can have all your washable markers out
01:41
and have your guests come and start coloring.
01:44
I really suggest these washable markers.
01:47
The colors are really pretty and pastelly.
01:50
You can see they're very Easter colored.
01:54
Usually you don't eat the egg after you decorate it
01:57
'cause it's probably been sitting around
01:58
for a week or something.
02:00
Most people don't eat their eggs after they decorate them.
02:04
And there you have it,
02:05
a fun new take on the traditional way
02:07
to dye Easter eggs.
